The ideal and economical solution for filling the bottom of large garden beds, or shaping bermed-up shrub beds.
As a stand-alone growing media, this soil will perform best by amending the top 6” layer with our Compost or GrowMix Garden Soil that contain additional nutrients – or adding 5 pounds of 6-8-6 pelletized fertilizer per yard to enrich. With either addition, Bed Builder will perform well and support strong root development and plant growth.
PLEASE NOTE: due to the screened dirt content, this soil will contain some weed seed. Please seed, turf, or mulch your installation as soon as possible to help prevent weeds!
We test our soils! Yes, this soil closely meets the 2P planting medium requirements as outlined in the B.C. Landscape Society Spec.

A high-quality soil blend that is an excellent choice for veggie-beds as well as building-up landscaping beds in preparation for shrubs, trees, hedge-row, and general planting.
This is our best, all-round, fertile soil choice for most landscape and planting applications. Has proven itself across the entire landscape. Contains high fertility with good nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium values. Requires NO ADDITIONAL fertilizer in the first year: wait for a sign of plant need in year two before adding any!
This soil performs best by watering-in heavily TWICE to remove additional salts from the compost before seeding or planting out. Also our best option when dealing with wet areas where drainage is of concern. For really wet areas, placing a few inch layer of bedding sand down first or digging-in a French drain may still be required.

A well structured, nutritious soil suitable for both turf or seed lawn starts.
We have seen excellent results with this soil!
Adding a pelletized ‘seed and sod starter’ fertilizer will further help establish initial seed or sod development. And please remember when planting from seed, make sure to keep the young grass shoots damp once sprouted with three light waterings per day: morning – noon – and early evening, until your lawn is well rooted in.
We test our soils! Yes, this soil closely meets the 2H planting medium requirements for “high-traffic-lawn” as outlined in the B.C. Landscape Society Spec.
*PLEASE NOTE – Turf soil is NOT a “top-dress” material per se. Top dress materials contain a MUCH higher content of sand which will NOT meet the BC Landscape Spec. If you have the patience to work through and break up some clumps of compost with your rake, our turf soil CAN be used very effectively as a top dress. Easiest to rake out and level for a topdress: our bedding sand or masonry sand, combined with our pelletized fertilizer. It is a trade-off: do you want to topdress a lawn in a way that requires less maintenance longer term, but is a bit more difficult to install intially? Or, do you want a top-dress material that is easier to spread and install but does not perform as well? The compost in our turf soil holds onto nutrients and water well. Topdressing with sand only, is going to INCREASE the amount of water and pelletized fertilizer required (think golf-course) to keep your lawn green through the heat of Summer.

Our cedar-free bark mulch is a rich mixture of tan to red-brown when dry, and darker-red-browns with lighter highlights when wet. This fine-grind mulch is made up of a mixture of fir and hemlock. Great as a garden-topper: helps retain moisture and gives a clean, tidy look.
We generally do NOT recommend using weedbarrier under any mulch because it is a natural product that will eventually break down to a peat-like material, to add organics into your soil. Mulch is best reapplied once the weeds start showing, generally every couple/few years and at a depth up to 4” for best weed control and moisture retention. Best practice is to spread and pile the mulch up to the dripline of existing plants where the foliage ends. Do not pile mulch up in against the crown of plants as this will generally inhibit their growth.

Often used by landscapers in the know, this mulch is a fir/hemlock blend produced by us. It is dark tan/brown with some lighter tan highlights.
This medium-grind product offers a LONGER LASTING cover than finer mulches due to the larger pieces found in this blend which results in less maintenance. This still contains fine mulched pieces but once rained on, the fines settle in, leaving the larger pieces on top which are less susceptible to being blown off garden beds by stong winds or heavy rains which can be a problem on exposed or steeper sites.
