You are here: Pond & Water / Liner & Underlay
As with any construction project, creating a proper, strong foundation for your pond or water feature is an important first step. Liner, underlayment and geotextile are components that will form the foundations for your perfect water feature.
Depending on the type of water feature you are creating, you might require the use of a geotextile. For instance, if you are installing a pond-less waterfall, geotextile will prevent rock and debris from entering sub-surface water reservoirs/basins.
Underlayment is installed before the liner to prevent punctures from rough or rocky ground. Not only does underlayment provide protection for the liner, it also allows the ground to breathe. The fabric allows the earth’s gases to escape from underneath the liner rather than becoming trapped, causing gas bubbles to push the liner up into the pond.
The most common pond liner, EPDM is a flexible material that can easily conform to any configurations you choose. It is safe for fish, plants, and wildlife and is the ideal product to give your water feature a natural look.
